The "Globetrotter Scot"

SOME INFO ABOUT ME

Read more >........< and Back

     Hi there,
My name is Russell and I am the "Globetrotter Scot".
I was born and raised in the western highlands of Scotland and, as there was no work there, unless you wished to be a subsistence farmer A.K.A a crofter ( you had to like sheep!), I did my training in the "Glasgow College of Nautical Studies" as a Radio/Electronics Officer and spent the first 16 years of my working life, as have many others before me from the Scottish highlands and Islands, in the British Merchant Navy.
After I hit the beach, as they say, I then worked as a Radio and Telecommunications project engineer involved in the oil and gas industry and, for a while, in the mobile telephone industry.
So, as you can imagine, I have done my share of travelling around the planet for my work but on holiday, not so much. That is going to change now that I am no longer a slave to the system!
In the words of an old Scottish song...

"I've been a wanderer all of my life
and many a sight I have seen!"

Oh How true!
You could say that I am a bit of a wandering albatross.

Fortunately, I am now classed as officially 'old' ( but not yet decrepit! ) and have retired from the rat race, otherwise I would never have been able to take these incredible journeys.
So, sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. I'll suffer the aching muscles just for your benefit, the decent guy that I am!
OK, I get the added bonus of sitting in lovely places, chatting to lovely people, sipping fine wine and eating deliciously fine cuisine from around the world! (Ah, the burdens of being a Globetrotter!)
